Adtran: Connect Analog Users to Use SIP Credentials

Create a Trunk In Adtran Create Trunk Group Create Analog Account Dial Permission Template Verify Registration

Scope

Intended Audience: White Label Partners, Netsapiens Providers, Tier 1 Technicians or higher

The following steps will allow you to use an Adtran Router/PBX to register analog phones using user-based SIP registration. You will create a trunk, create an analog user and configure SIP credential for each user, check the registration of the user status and finally create the dial permission for 3-4 digits extension to allow 3-4 digits calling.

 

Requirements

  • Administrator privileges to the Adtran web console
  • SIP Phone Credentials
  • Tested on Adtran 924e, FW ver. R13.7.2.E
 

 

Create a Trunk In Adtran

  1. Log in to Adtran Admin Page
  2. Click on Voice
  3. Under Trunks, click Trunk Accounts
  4. Trunk Name: <Client Domain Name>
  5. Type: SIP
  6. Click Add
  7. In section SIP Server Settings, fill out the following:
    1. Hostname: sbc.ucaasnetwork.com (confirm your primary core)
      1. ATL =  sbc.ucaasnetwork.com
      2. NYJ = sbc-ne.ucaasnetwork.com
      3. SJE = sbc-west.ucaasnetwork.com
    2. SIP Server Transport: UDP
    3. Transport Setting Port: 5060
  8. In section SIP Outbound Proxy Setting
    1. Outbound Proxy Address (Host Name): Refer to Step 6
    2. From Header Host Type: Override Domain
    3. To Header Host Type: Override Domain

Request URI Header Host Type: Override Domain

Trust Domain: Enable

In section SIP Registrar Settings

SIP Registrar Address (Host Name): Name of Domain Name
Registrar Threshold (Percentage): 50%

Default Authentication: Set

User: User SIP Username created in the first step

Password: User SIP Password

Domain Address: Use this domain - Name of Domain Name

Leave Registration Settings default.  We don't configure this as the Users account will do the registration automatically

Click Save


Create Trunk Group 

Setup Outbound route to SIP Trunk

  1. Under Voice, click on Trunk Group under Trunks
  2. Click Add and Name the trunk group as "OutboundTrunk"
  3. Click Add Member
  4. Select SIP Trunk that was created
  5. Check the Outbound Call Template that will be used for this SIP Trunk template for dialing
  6. Click Save

Create Analog Account

  1. Go to Stations -> User Accounts
  2. Create new, and enter the following.  Use the same extension mapping as you create them in the Manager Portalso that extensions match the Adtran user extensions
    1. Extension: <User Extension>
    2. First Name: Optional
    3. Last Name: Optional
    4. Phone Type: Analog Station
    5. Port Type: <Select the FXS port> for this user.  This is where the analog phone will be plugged in to
  3. Click the User you created and go to VOIP Settings
    1. Click Add SIP Identityand Enter the following
      1. SIP Identity: <extension>  (ie: 101)
      2. Associated SIP Trunk:
    2. Select the Trunk Name which is the Domain Name you created 
    3. Trunk Registration: Enabled
    4. Trunk Authentication: Set
      1. User: <extension> ie: 101
      2. Password: <SIP Password> (This is not the same as the portal password)
    5. Click Add SIP Identity to add
  4. Follow Steps 1 to 3 for the rest of the users

Dial Permission Template

Permit Template contains the dial permission, so you have to make sure that 3-4 digits dialing is permitted.

  1. Go to Detailed View - Permission / Restriction Call Templates in the Trunk Settings
  2. Click Configure Templates
  3. To allow 3 Digit dialing, enter MXX
  4. To allow 4 Digit dialing, enter MXXX

Verify Registration

Ensure that the analog phones are able to register

  1. Go to Reports ->Trunk Registrations
  2. Note the Registered column, there should be a green checkmark.
  3. Log in to Manager Portal and check each user's phones tab to make sure the Adtran device is showing as registered also.
